Enagagement for Deepika & Ranbir

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the golden couple, have gone ahead and got engaged.

So far, so good. The only hitch is, nobody seems to have conveyed the good news to their families, or them! Deepika’s father, Prakash Padukone seems to have had enough.

Answering phone calls about his daughter’s rumoured engagement, he says, “We are not even aware of this development and nobody has told us anything. That’s because it is just not true!”

Ranbir’s sister Riddhima is much more forthcoming. “These are all stupid rumours. I don’t know where they get such bizarre news from! Deepika seems to have been misquoted and nothing of the sort has happened. Ranbir Kapoor is out of India for a film shoot and he was so surprised when he heard about this. In fact, he was shocked! Both of them have a long way to go and it is just the beginning of their careers! Marriage to bahut dur ki baat hai .”

Mother Neetu Kapoor also seconds that. “I am sure that Deepika has been misquoted.” Neetu says these kind of rumours happen if you are a part of the industry. “This is a part of film industry life. Kuch na kuch to hota rahta hai . I don’t react to all this at all. That’s because I have gone through this myself and with my husband. I have been connected to some hero or the other. My husband cannot flirt because he is not that type. I guess one just has to laugh it off!” Now, are Deepika and Ranbir doing so?

Ranbir Kapoor made his debut with Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam Kapoor under Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is titled Saawariya.

Deepika: Ranbir is my boyfriend

Deepika Padukone denied rumours of a break-up with actor Ranbir Kapoor. She said they were still very much an item, and were currently happy with the relationship.
“Yes I have a boyfriend and we are happy,” she supposedly said during a recent visit to Dubai as the brand ambassador of a real estate company. Then why the rumours? “There is always a lot of speculation, but that is something you have to deal with. We are together and I refer to him as my boyfriend.” Deepika is currently working on Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk to China, with Akshay Kumar.
